How to lose an employee in 10 minutes:

1. Book a performance review with little advanced notice, and without notifying HR
2. Email minutes before the meeting to delay it because of your busy diary
3. Be inconsistent and unfocused in the meeting. Avoid giving actionable instruction
4. Talk for 85% of the time
5. When you find out there was a good justification for not meeting a deadline, ignore it because it’s shameful to admit you didn’t gather the facts first
6. Act like it’s their problem that you’re stressed
7. Deny their request for holiday because they didn’t finish the task you forgot to set
8. End the meeting before they can get their points/grievances across
9. Send a “I’m disappointed in you” email following the meeting just to show you took none of their responses on board
10. Act shocked when the employee hands in his/her notice and tell them they should have been thankful to work in such a company.

The end.
